Why brown rice?
To
make a long story short, before industries, it was and has always been
brown rice. Again before industries, all the food that we ate was
organic, local, seasonal & whole. But now, living in the 21st
century in North America, it has come down to convenience &
accessibility. If you keep your eyes open for local & seasonal food,
then you are already practicing macrobiotics. It really is nonsense
that we should know and use the term; macrobiotics.
We
all want fortune - health, wealth, longevity & happiness. All your
conscious efforts for your life fortune is macrobiotics. Thus, it
really is not important how or what we call it. Literally, 'the
conscious effort' is important and is everything. That conscious effort
is macrobiotics. And ironically enough, its outcome is brown rice. It's
not a new choice. It has always been.
Eating
white rice is like eating white bread, eating processed food, eating
peeled apples, eating something that fluctuates your blood sugar level.
However,
eating brown rice doesn't mean macrobiotics. Your conscious efforts
are. Like, searching for good reliable resources of food, walking to
food stores, carrying home, preparing & cooking, enjoying ourselves
with appreciation, saving & not wasting, recycling, supporting local
farmers, and planning for the next day, etc.
The moment of truth is the contact point in between two different universes; Chewing.
This
simple awareness of (inter)-relationships in between energy intake from
the food resources and your inner organs related to their
comfort/stress level as a whole system prolongs your life greatly by
lowering the stress to inner organs.
Conscious
efforts to chew well thoroughly (doing your best at your part of the
relationship) plays the biggest roles in self-healing, immunity, inner
peace, etc. and transforms you into a slow eater that allows oneself to
meditate in an appreciative and spiritual mode.
It
makes you appreciate life, turns you into a wholesome person. This is
impossible if you eat in hunger. Your whole universe - body, mind,
spirit - becomes irregular, not only your income.
While
you eat slowly, the 'fullness' signal comes from your brain and the
amount of food intake becomes under control naturally and helps keep
optimized body weight with boosted immunity. This is an engraved process
in our DNA as part of self-healing; Natural weight loss or gain works
this way and there are no side effects.
It
is best to become a slower eater who eats home-prepared food with
prior-planned conscious effort. The best policy for your fortune.
In
short, chewing is the beginning and the end of your part in the
relationship where actually you can work on. This is the simplest secret
for your fortune in a way.
To
maximize this opportunity, a minimum of 20 minutes of time to yourself
is a must. Plus regularity is the key to success. Remember, allow enough
time to enjoy yourself, a minimum of 20 minutes. Plan your daily eating
and pattern it with wholesome practice.
We eat brown rice to make (inter-) relationships good.
1. Relationships with our own body:
Brown rice digests and releases its energy stably to the body system.
It helps keep your whole universe stable - mentally, physically &
spiritually - and allows your body to keep good relationships within. As
it always has been.
2. Relationships with people around us:
Macrobiotics is about understanding (inter-) relationships underlying
every aspect of life. It is only when your universe (system) is stable
that keeps good relationships with the outer universe(s) - other people
around.
From
the perspective of macrobiotics, focus is more to relationships
(chewing) than what we actually eat (brown rice). Your biggest
relationship is eating. And brown rice has been the choice.
In this matter, every little single thing accumulates and every other element counts evenly and gravely.
Besides,
people around you and their related inter-relationships of managing
their own eating influences one another. Your attitude towards eating
governs your whole-self and puts you in a direction of attracting either
something good or the alternative.
